Are You a Sell-Out?


As an artist, there is a paradox, where you need people to give you a positive response and feedback, but at the same time, you have to be true to yourself (even if it means they don’t like it).

That’s the hard part. It’s hard to do them both, but that is what we are faced with as artists. It’s like you don’t want to sell out, but the reason you ask people to hear you is to find someone who will “buy” you. And you don’t want to become embittered if people don’t like you (or your art), but deep down, some form of acceptance is what you crave.
