Spillin' Tea: Fresh off Sharing “Our Dirty Little Secret”….
I guess I should start by apologizing to any and all of you that received last month’s edition of this newsletter THIS MONTH. The consequence of being a newbie at something—like Mailchimp—is that I goofed and did not set my automation up correctly. I hope you will forgive me and, now that I understand how to time things, this shouldn’t happen again.
—Although the title of this post is “Dirty, Dirty,” we are actually coming clean and fresh off posting our second ever giveaway, reworking one of our first music videos, publishing our first ever full-fledged product review—no, not sponsored—and are preparing for the Detroit Free Press/Chemical Bank Half-Marathon (more on this soon) (which is happening in 2 weeks).
What’s “dirty” is our approach to getting all this done. We are gritty and scrappy and are not giving up until something happens. We are taking the Will Smith method to heart—where we will work so hard that no one can deny us.
But don’t let that dirty weigh you down…. We are having fun doing it; all of it. In fact, it is actually our devotion to fun that drives us to work our hardest at all the other stuff, so that we can find more joy and fulfillment in our lives. It is our trade-off. So, yes, it requires a few less hours of sleep—not my favorite trade-off—and buying a few less things (which I have come to realize was only compensating for not enjoying life fully) in order to go to bed with a sense of purpose and fulfillment. So, while I cuss and fuss about getting up at 4 a.m. to get in my fitness and blog promotional posts, the truth is that I can’t wait to get started in the morning, because I know that those seeds that I am dropping will harvest all day long. I love that.
Because it takes that “dirt” to see growth, I know it is all worth it, which makes me happy (and which actually makes it hard to go to sleep, when it is finally time).
Anyway, that’s the current state of our blog. We are welcoming all that is to come….
Until then, here’s to finishing our Letter From the Editors. As always, wishing you love, peace, and chicken grease!
