Rock Star Rewind: Re-Invention is The Engine (April 2020)
Re-Invention is The Engine….
We know grooming and finding just the right clothes that make the right statement is not some deep philosophical mission or topic, but it is right when our heads are at, in this moment leading up to South By Southwest ( http://bit.ly/sxswplaylist2019 ). And since it has been our mission to make this blog reflect who we are without filters, we have decided that this is the theme for this edition of the monthly newsletter.
Do you know about our Song-a-Week Challenge?
(Here’s our “19 for 2019 Goals”: http://bit.ly/19for2019blog )
What’s weird is that this is where this blog began—in the summer of 2017 ( http://bit.ly/rockstarshp17 )—we took you with us to one of our local gems, Eastern Market, to explore shops and vendors there.
Well, while we’ve done more shopping since—check out our London shopping haul ( http://bit.ly/londonshophaul )—we haven’t put as much time in explaining how we go about choosing what we wear and where to shop for it. —Well, sorry to disappoint you, but that’s not the point of this post. The point of this post is to remind you—as we have reminded ourselves—that looking and feeling spectacular takes time and energy.
Human Hang up….
Personally, I, Vox, have gotten beyond the idea that I am “fat” and have started realizing that I AM bigger than what I was AND that my shape has changed in some unexpected ways. However, I have finally found my confidence to be fierce and to stop hiding in my clothes and instead to express all of the bubbliness inside. What that has meant recently is that I am emerging out of my all-black clothing phase and am back seeking all kinds of bright and unusual colors, which is the first time in a LONG time that I have been truly excited about dressing my new body.
And you know my original plan was to wear a bunch of Prejippie swag for SXSW. ( http://bit.ly/Prejippietshirt ) Well, very recently, the idea of being just this helluva interesting-looking person has been more important than just repping our brand. Also, I would LOVE to rep our brand, if I could reach into the closet and grab out t-shirts that were already made, but SXSW is exactly two weeks away and I need to think both more practically—as in I don’t have time to conceptualize them AND get them ordered in time for the trip, plus, the fit would still be a wildcard. I am in the mood to coordinate some outfits that look good, feel good, and make us irresistibly interesting. That’s the goal.

Here's our first ever Music Biz Growth Hacks post.
So....
—So, what we have come to realize is that part of this restlessness is the desire to re-invent ourselves, which happens every so often. [—We are working on a blog post that discusses re-visiting and updating the Vision Board ( http://bit.ly/rockstarvision ), but that won’t be out until next week, so…] That’s the point of this post. To re-assure ourselves and to encourage you, fellow D.I.Y. Rock Star, that it’s okay to step back, affirm your vision for your look, as well as your enterprise, whenever it feels appropriate (and not just when the calendar date calls for a “resolution”).
