D.I.Y. Rock Star Rewind: Big Change was Necessary… (December 2020)
Big Change was Necessary....
Every now and then, I get restless. When I get like that, I HAVE to make what feels like a big change in order to feel motivated; to care, to create, to keep going. I find myself at a doorway that I WANT to go through, but that I need to see from a different perspective. That’s what big change does for me.
Planning?
The other thing that a big change does for me is it helps me get into the spirit of planning exciting new things. And that’s exactly what I need now. As I said yesterday, I need to breathe new life into some of the forgotten about plans that I had originally had for this release. I mean, I really am STILL very excited for the possibilities of the record, so I just need to spend some time making plans for the next couple of weeks, so that I can get back into my groove.
The spirit of a rhythm…
—When this thing all started一when the record FIRST came out一I was in a rhythm. I had so many plans that I could barely sit down, because of all the wheels that were spinning and all the work I was doing. I felt like one of Santa’s elves; getting all those snail mail orders out and figuring out what blogs, radio deejays, and taste-makers to get the music to. I liked that constant rhythm of doing things related to the release.

Ran out of plans?
This last week, I kept trying to remind myself to keep to that rhythm, but I ran out of plans…. 😳 And without a plan, those sparkly ideas lost their daily pull. That’s where a plan comes into play. When I have a plan, I don’t have to think too much about it; I can just move on to the next activity. Then一like clockwork一amazing things will be getting done; one after another. That’s the way this thing started. But it’s the grind of daily life—when we’re juggling responsibilities and energy—where we sometimes fall off.

The BIG Three...
—And to be honest, there is no way to do ALL THE THINGS all the time (一If you want to know more about our back story, check this out: http://bit.ly/allthethingsprej ), so anything other than loving on yourself and your family takes first position as a default, which is good to keep you一AND them一running. However, when the dust clears there, it’s being able to return back to that thing that brings you outside joy that’s going to carry you into your next level of warm fuzzies.

Three Priorities Right Now
That’s where projects like “Sugar Fit” and the blog and Gab & Jam fit in. They help us connect to that necessary and creative center of our beings. Having those things to return to help keep us happier in the long run, and are a source of a special, private joy as I go through my Clark Kent-type life, where nobody TRULY knows who you are.
On our minds....
As you can see, these ideas are the impetus for these latest two episodes, where we explored both the topics of “Taking a Break” and "Paring Down Goals" 一which I have to remind myself to do too often一and of having WAAAY too many items of the list to attend to.

Cutting the fat....
Now that we have cut back some of that fat一and have all but banished obsessing over stats/followers/etc., taken serious synch licensing pursuit right now, and have moved Blog-vember off our plates altogether this year.
