D.I.Y. Rock Star Rewind: Bitter AND Sweet?! 🍋 🍭 (August 2021)

Do you REALLY want me to spill it?

—So, I was ALL over the place with trying to put this month’s message together. I had originally planned to tell some sob story about digging out of what I have come to believe has been a nearly 6 year depression. —Not to diminish the reality, but I chalk all of it up to first world problems. –That’s the bitter…. 🍋

But then…

But then, I changed my mind and wanted to talk about while having a shitload of goals, about how I found clarity—was fucking able to get SOMETHING done—by crossing all but one thing off the list for each day, but then I realized that I discussed this before (https://bit.ly/getspitdoneblog ). 😳🙄🤷🏽‍♀️ And then, I wanted to just fucking have some fun by sharing our “end of pandemic” plans, but then I realized that some of y’all are STILL in the midst of trying to figure out how to proceed; how to adjust to leaving the cocoon and having to be social—which I know that many of us struggled with BEFORE the pandemic. 🙄 –STILL the bitter? 🍋

Finally…

Finally, I decided to remind you that, if you read this far, it probably means you’re happy and healthy ENOUGH to be able to rise to ANY coming challenges and THAT ALONE is a reason to celebrate! 👏🏾 And if you got ANYTHING done during the pandemic related to your creative empire building goals, then you ARE certainly qualified to wear the badge of being a kick-ass D.I.Y. Rock Star! ⭐️ 😎✌🏾 –SURELY, the sweet. 🍭

What's the best piece of music advice you've ever been given? We're working on a post for the end of the month, but we need your help.

We'd love to include what you share with us in the blog post--and maybe even in a podcast episode. Thanks, D.I.Y. Rock Stars! https://bit.ly/bestadvicepoll

Gab & Jam 179. 5 Top Tips for Re-purposing content (for the D.I.Y. Rock Star)

Sincerely, though…

And we KNOW we’ve said it before, but not only are we happy that you’re here, but we are thrilled to be on this journey with you. That’s why we share all this behind the scenes info; it’s so that you’ll know what’s possible with NO formal training in music or public relations, since we don’t have ANY of that. We started late in life, with an out-of-the-mainstream style, but with sheer dogged determination, we get QUITE a lot done and are making our mark. EVEN before, during, and certainly, after a pandemic. If WE can do, so can you! We’re not bitter anymore; we’ve found the sweet! 🍭

P.S.

What was REALLY nice was that one of the photographers @taylorohryn from the Maize Collective event two years ago reached out on Instagram to tell me how much she appreciated the piece that I wrote about her and the event as a whole. ( http://bit.ly/9thingsphotographyblog ) That was EXTREMELY rewarding. It’s NOT that we do it FOR this result, but it’s certainly thrilling when it happens….. Even when it’s over two years later. 🙌🏾 –DEFINITELY, sweet! 🍭
