Date Night at Nile Rodgers and Chic Concert

As you KNOW, even after celebrating 34 years of marriage this year, we are big on having a regular date night. We OFTEN go to concerts, because—duh!—music brought us together, so enjoying music live performances is something we love to do together. —Recently, we’ve seen Royal Blood; before that, St. Vincent; and Jonathan Brooke pre-pandemic, so it was time to cue up another live performance as the center of our festivities. But THIS one was extra special.

We had a BLAST! 💥🥳 But who wouldn’t with what we were working with?! We came with our rock star vibe and did not one, but five things in ONE trip! We got to do date night—which was LONG overdue!—we got to go to the Detroit Auto Show, got to walk for a date, got to see what all the hubbub is over the Charity Preview, AND, the cherry on top was getting to see Nile Rodgers for the second time in the SAME year! 💥 We COULDN'T beat how the stars aligned for THIS one, if you ask me!💥😊So, am I happy and excited and blown away by being able to accomplish ALL of that last night? Damn sure, I am!

We couldn’t TELL if Nile Rodgers REMEMBERED us from South By Southwest (in March 2022), but both Bruce and got acknowledgments from the stage, including the fist bump that I got toward the end of the set. 😳😬 —Plus, we’ve NEVER seen Chic perform EVER, so to be up close, not only to see Nile Rodgers again, but to see a band that we BOTH “knew” BEFORE we even met perform was pretty amazing! So, I would call that a WIN all the way around!

Ultimately, it was a GREAT time for us, because the concert started at 8 and ended by 10, which was a good time frame for folks who have worked all day and who got up at 4 am to do so. But MORE than that, it was a GREAT show, surrounded by a good crowd, by a GREAT band. Cha-ching! It was WELL WORTH coughing up the money to attend the Detroit Auto Show Charity Preview in order to see Nile Rodgers AGAIN for the second time in one year! That’s right; it was “Date Night; Done Right!”
