Is there a “sexy” was to say it? 🥓 (April 2021)

Where the Eff Did May Go?! Timelessness in Quarantine (July 2020) --Blooming Prejippie

So, yeah, there’s no sexy way to say it.

What I am looking for is a way to use the idea of “efficiency” as my word of the year. You know… that idea of working smart and not hard. When tasked with choosing a word for the year—an idea that appealed to me from the Happier podcast, Episode 254—that’s the idea that has been drawing me back.

Gab & Jam Ep 161 The Prince Music Marketing Mindset

Sounds like sensible shoes…. 👟

But “efficiency” sounds like a word an accountant would use. And I am a rock star, so, as you can imagine, the sound of that idea DOESN'T seem “on-brand” 👠.... 😳🙄😬 But then, the more I think about that D.I.Y. part of what we do, the more I think that it is actually right on-point—since it’s our new purpose to get as much shit down in as little time as possible while expending the least amount of energy while getting as much impact in return as possible. When I look at it THAT way, I think “hell yeah,” efficiency IS the holy fucking grail!) I want to do ALL THE THINGS—creating the badass songs, rocking the branding, smashing it in outreach, and captivating fans like a motherfucker! All at the same time and all without messing up my damn makeup! That IS the current quest. 💥😎💒

Lacking….

As an artist, though, the word sounds so fucking lacking that snap, crackle, and pop. 💣💥 There’s no sizzle in that bacon. 🥓 There’s NO whole lot of shaking going on. ✨ I mean, for fuck’s sake, the word sounds like a pocket protector and sensible fucking shoes; which are so NOT on-brand. 🙄

But it’s the juice, y’all! 🧃

What should we do about that? After all, it is ALSO at the core of our brand to be true to the call of our hearts and constantly respond to what gives our lives passion….. 🤔 And I really MUST admit that the very IDEA of efficiency turns me on at this point in my life. After SOOOO many years of being frivolous with my time and energy, and of NOT planning, and of NOT strategizing, it is efficiency that has made the idea of achieving the goals of our creative lives possible. In fact, it is efficiency that has given us the P O W E R to be able to work a full-time life, while rocking out crushing growing our creative empire, all at the same time! So, how can I turn my back on an idea that has been THE breakthrough concept that is propelling us forward like a motherfucker?! So, ESPECIALLY for this 2020 - 2021 season, it’s efficiency that gives has us living our best lives. 💪🏾

Gab & Jam Ep 162 The better the gear, the better you will sound?

Let’s re-brand it!

But like I said, it’s not so much the idea that I want to shun, it’s the way it is packaged. So, as a creative person, I decided to try to find a sexier way to say it. I went to the dictionary and here’s what we found:

Synonyms for efficiency:

edge, effectiveness, effectualness, efficaciousness, efficacity, efficacy, productiveness

Words Related to efficiency

ability, capability, capacity

potency, puissance, strength

What do you think?

I really love “potency,” but it STILL does not convey that “work smart, not hard” ethos. And “effectiveness” sounds even LESS sexy—if that’s even possible 🙄 —because it leaves out the element of agency; the idea that we are in control of what happens with us, so that we help generate the possibilities for what happens to us. And really, that right THERE is THE key ingredient!

It’s the Power-up Pill! 💊

So, I guess, until we find a better way to say it or until you give us a suggestion that we had never thought of, “efficiency” is our word for 2021. Done.

With that being said, we decided to spend February working on strategy and now, as spring is approaching, we will be working on outreach.
