March 14, 2022 First full day of SXSW

We’re in this neighborhood near the first session and it’s got a funky vibe that reminds us of the one we were in Nashville, where we were looking for Marathon Motorworks.

Prime Video “Experience” Featuring Lizzo and “The Boys” (on Rainey Street)

We heard good things about it from the folks who were in line—who say they’ve been here every day since it opened. We’ve never been inside any of these, so we decided to give it a try.

–So, it was like a carnival for adults, complete with a carousel, a 10 hair and nails makeover (plus massage), alongside of happy meals, free snacks, swag, drinks, live entertainment, and selfie opportunities. For us, it checked off a few things at once–since we got a peek at an artist that we didn’t know existed, Alexander Abraham.

We ended the evening by having a Mexican dinner at Iron Cactus.

Voodoo Doughnuts was next.

Though this is first full day at South By Southwest, it was a second evening stopping by Voodoo Doughnut, a colorful, iconic, sweet treat. Since lines are MUCH shorter than they were in 2019, it’s been easy to add them into our schedule without cutting too much into our time.

Second full day of SXSW

Starting the day with a Starbucks satellite (in the lobby of the hotel).
